Dack Lamarque

Dack founded LaMarque Atlas in May 2020 following an accomplished career quarterbacking value-oriented public and private investments at various respected investment firms.  

From 2014 to 2020, Dack was a Vice President and part of the founding team at Spanos Barber Jesse & Co. (SBJ), a $300mm private equity firm focused on investing and creating value in lower middle-market, founder-owned consumer and business services companies. Dack was responsible for due diligence, negotiation, deal execution and monitoring of control buyout and credit investments across a variety of industries. He previously served on the board of three SBJ portfolio companies. 

Prior to SBJ, Dack was a generalist Equity Analyst at Del Rey Global Investors, a $2bn long-only, value-oriented global investment fund where his responsibilities included sourcing and developing global investment recommendations, performing due diligence and monitoring investments across a variety of industries.   

Dack received an MBA from The Wharton School, graduating as a Palmer Scholar (highest distinction), and earned a BA with Highest Honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dack is also a CFA® charterholder. When not working, Dack can be found riding a train with his two young sons, in the third row of a movie theater with his wife (pre-pandemic of course) or with his nose buried in a book.

Tara Gentsil

Tara oversees accounting, financial and tax related matters for LaMarque Atlas’ partnership and management company and also provides guidance and assistance with compliance and other operational matters. Tara also served as the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Compliance Officer at SBJ (through May 2022) where she was responsible for the financial, tax, and administrative aspects of the funds and management company. She was also responsible for SEC and all other compliance matters for SBJ. Dack and Tara worked together at SBJ from 2018-2020.

Prior to SBJ, she also spent seven years at Alpine Investors, an investment firm with over $1 billion under management where she served as the VP Finance and Chief Compliance Officer, where she had similar responsibilities.

Prior to joining Alpine Investors, Tara was the Controller at TPG Opportunities Partners in San Francisco, where she built out the accounting function and department. She was previously an Assistant Controller at TPG Capital responsible for global management company accounting as well as Broker-Dealer accounting and regulatory compliance.

Tara graduated with High Honors with a BA in Accounting and Spanish from Michigan State University. She also earned an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Southern Methodist University. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in three states. In a prior life before children, Tara enjoyed piano, yoga, and running. Now she just runs after the little ones.
